Astellas has global R&D facilities located in Japan, the US and Europe. The total R&D budget for Astellas is set at €1.3 billion. Astellas is striving to accelerate the development of innovative and reliable products to solve patients' unmet medical needs.
The European R&D HQ is located in Leiderdorp, the Netherlands.
Astellas European R&D has a broad spectrum of departments covering a wide range of R&D disciplines including: Project Management; Exploratory Development; Clinical Data Science; Clinical Research; Drug Safety and Pharmacovigilance; and Regulatory Affairs. Close links also exist with T&SCM for Pharmaceutical Development.
Whilst European R&D supports the four key areas of Transplantation, Urology, Dermatology and Anti-infectives, it is also involved in global research and development into diabetes, gastrointestinal, central nervous system and inflammatory disorders. This includes leading the Western or European arms of global clinical trial programs.
